CHRISTIAN singer, Mandisa, opened up about her mental health battle in her final interviews before her death.
The American Idol star died at her home in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday.
No cause of death has been revealed, but more details have emerged about Mandisa’s personal struggles.
In April 2022, Mandisa spoke about battling depression during an interview with WayFM Radio.
She shared that she once “attempted to take my life” but didn’t go through with it after receiving numerous text messages from loved ones.
Mandisa encouraged listeners to continue to reach out to others, even if they get no response.

She also promoted her book, Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy, released that March, about her journey to stardom and navigating hardships along the way.
Following news of the Grammy Award winner’s death, fans raced to the comments to offer their condolences.
“This lady was going through it. My goodness. Heartbreaking, God’s vessel you fought, now it is over,” one fan wrote.
“This is so heartbreaking,” echoed another.

“Oh sweet, sweet girl. I wish you could have know what a loss this would be to us. My heart hurts soooo badly,” said a third.
The vocalist also was previously featured in a YouTube video, highlighting how she overcame her struggles.
In the clip, posted by Women of Faith on TBN, Mandisa talked about how she used her faith to get out of the dark times.
Fans again remembered the star in the comments, with one writing, “RIP Mandisa. You’ll be greatly missed. You’ve won the race and stand in the presence of your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
News of Mandisa’s death broke on Friday by the Christian Radio Network K-Love.

“Mandisa struggled, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles.
“Mandisa’s struggles are over. She is with the God she sang about now. While we are saddened, Mandisa is home,” the post concluded.
The powerhouse singer was 47 years old.
Many Idol fans rooted for the California native when she competed on Season 5 of the singing competition show, finishing in the top 10.
She went on to release her debut album, True Beauty, in 2007.
Mandisa’s career blossomed from there as she later produced several studio albums and was nominated for five Grammy Awards.
The book author has also been candid about her weight loss struggles, something former Idol judge, Simon Cowell, criticized her for on air.
In 2011, Mandisa lost 120 pounds, though gained even more weight while grieving the death of her best friend.
She lost weight once again after seeking treatment.
“When you are walking through this, you think that you’re the only one,” the TV star told People at the time.
